What is a transmission mount?

Transmission mounts are required to succeed in several tasks in your BMW, but they are not quite suitable for those who actually drive their vehicles.  Unfortunately, these transmission mounts are parts that are frequently overlooked.

The transmission mount is designed to:

• Help stabilize the transmission under vehicle load allowing the shifter to engage into gear properly
• Isolate vibration from the drivetrain to the chassis

Under engine load, the transmission can shift left and right slightly.  The shifting gets worse when the car is being driven through turns.  The unwanted movement may potentially cause the driver to miss shift, a costly error, which will always be considered driver error.

Solutions to a Potential Problem

There are several BMW factory mounts that can improve this situation; however, they do not fit all cars and only offer the most minimum benefits.  There are race-type mounts that stabilizes the transmission so much that you can feel every last vibration.  There are even aftermarket mounts designed with reinforcements to make mounts even more stiff.  Some companies go as far as selling solid aluminum mounts, for the ultimate enthusiasts.

Rogue Engineering wanted to create their own transmission mounts produced, but they also wanted the mounts to be compatible with street use.  With their designs and engineering, they wanted to guarantee the driver that there would not be compromises in performance or no extras to buy--just a mount engineered to do what they wanted without unnecessary add-ons.

These transmission mounts are made from neoprene rubber, with a completely different shape than the factory mount.  The hourglass shape of your vehicle's factory transmission mount is not the most suitable part for stabilizing the transmission.  By changing the shape of the mount into a cylindrical shape of the Rogue Engineering mount, it reduces deflection significantly!

Rogue Engineering has designed this product to minimize unwanted transmission movement while dampening vibrations.  There are no additional adapters, mounts, cups, or braces that are required for RE's mounts.  To remove even MORE shifting from the transmission, you have to go to the root of the problem--the factory mount.  Although there is a motor mount available, BMW Motorsport motor mounts (the ones available), can cost $500 or more!

The RE Transmission Mounts can be purchased as a pair and come with Grade 8 Zinc plated hardware.  Unique from other aftermarket mounts, the mounting plate and studs of their mounts have been Cadmium-plated to prevent any sort of corrosion.
