Version 3: Always evolving
For many years, we have been successfully selling our V1 RASP pipe for E46 M3 owners. So popular was that many others were trying out their own version. However, tuning out specific exhaust sounds is more than just "stick that resonator in there" kind of development. Sometimes it may even work, but often times, it requires tweaking for just the right sound.

Version 1 - Dual 57mm tubes (OEM is 50mm), dual resonators (3.5" OD)
Version 2 - Dual 63.5mm tubes, single muffler/resonator
Version 3 - Dual 63.5mm tubes, dual resonators (4" OD)

For Version 3.0 we went back to the dual resonators to keep the flow separate for cars with higher HP as well as cars that maintain high RPMs (like tracked cars). The dual resonator format seems to fair better than the single muffler style resonator in these cases.

As the E46 M3 approaches its 20 year anniversary (in 2021), factory OEM items like catalytic converters start to require replacement. Whereas replacement manifolds (with catalytic converters) are expensive, some have chosen the header option. By doing this, the exhaust sound instantly increases in volume and a RASP pipe is no longer as effective as before. For our track customers that attend tracks with specific dB limits, this was also a concern as their track-going vehicles were blowing pass track limits.

During development, Rogue Engineering was able to sufficiently tune out the factory rasp without the added expense of replacing another section of of the factory exhaust system. Because of the simplicity, installation can take as little as 20 minutes (with the car on the lift, with proper tools).

For those that looking to eliminate this tone from their E46 M3s, there are a few other choices in the marketplace.  However, the Rogue Engineering Rasp Pipe is one of the few that can truly say that performance is uninhibited by the installation of this item.  Other ""muffler style"" designs that use one piece units to try to achieve the same result as our product do so by lowering the cost of the item (it is cheaper to use one muffler than using two, regardless of size).  These do have negative effects, as seen in comparable products used in daily drivers.

Regardless of the exhaust system you choose, the Rogue Engineering Rasp Pipe will do its job in removing the raspy tone.
