The FA20 2.0 liter boxer found in the FR-S and BRZ already has a relatively good intake setup with the stock duct pulling air from the front grill, but the inlet tube that connects your intake to your throttle body is just one huge mess of unnecessary pipes. While sound generator can make your engine sound a bit louder inside the cabin, it tends come off as a little bit artificial. Not only that, but the OEM inlet hose has a bunch of air restricting bends and holes that hold back your car's potential. Enter Perrin Performance and their Silicone Inlet Hose. Meticulously researched and designed to provide real gains while also looking substantially better than the unit, Perrin's Inlet Hose features a significantly wider and smoother diameter at 3"" (vs 2.7: stock). Additionally, it deletes the hole for the sound tube generator and resonator box, other areas that cause turbulence and poor air flow. The stainless steel wire rings provide a rigid structure for the inlet hose to ensure that it maintains its shape while under vacuum. And while 2-4 whp gains doesn't seem like a lot, you have to take into consideration that as you add more bolt ons - catback, front pipe, headers - the inlet hose will become a huge restriction. The Perrin Inlet Hose will let you reap the advantage of better exhaust flow by letting you get more air into your engine as well which will net you higher gains. Perrin Performance put a lot of thought into this Inlet Hose, as they do with all of their products, and it shows in the hose's construction, quality, and performance capabilities. Honestly though, those improvements are all sidelined by the significantly more aggressive induction sound and the ear to ear smile you'll get every time you mash on the throttle! | |
