The Exhaust

The hand crafted AWE Tuning Q5 3.0T Touring Edition Exhaust was specially crafted for the Eight-speed Tiptronic® transmission, featuring an x-pipe for enhanced exhaust tone, and AWE Tuning 180 Technology to eliminate drone. This is the perfect performance compliment for one of the finest SUVs available. This is the system that took our Q5 3.0T down the ¼ mile in 12.502 seconds.

The magic behind this handcrafted exhaust is a combination of hundreds of R&D hours as well as the important ingredient of AWE Tuning downpipes, replacing the stock downpipes.

As with all AWE Tuning exhaust products, each TIG weld is hand finished internally, only butt-welded junctions are used, and flange openings are size matched to their ports, all to produce the smoothest flow possible. It is this intensive attention to detail that sets AWE Tuning exhaust products heads and shoulders above the rest.

Tuning for the 8 Speed Tiptronic Transmission

Due to the weight and aerodynamics of the Q5, the 3.0T engine needs to work a bit harder to move it down the highway. The extra effort creates more exhaust sound volume, which became quite a challenge in the development of a performance exhaust. Special attention would be required - as well as the application of AWE Tunings sound cancelling solution, 180 Technology.

About the downpipes

Turn your 3.0T Q5 up to 11 with the AWE Tuning Q5 3.0T Non-Resonated Downpipes. These hand crafted T304 Stainless Steel Non-Resonated Downpipes produce a distinctive, more aggressive sound when coupled with the AWE Tuning Touring Edition Exhaust.

Downpipe installation tip

Installing downpipes on these SUVs can be arduous given the placement of the factory bolts. We had so much trouble that we made an AWE Tuning-grade tool to make it easier. If you're planning an install, our Downpipe Removal Tool is a must have.

Can I Upgrade to downpipes later?

Not sure if you want to do the full package yet, or if have you already purchased a Touring Edition Exhaust system? No worries! If you purchase a Touring Edition Exhaust alone, you have one full year from the date of Touring Edition Exhaust system purchase to buy the complementing downpipes at the discounted package price - you'll only pay for the price difference between the Touring Edition Exhaust system alone and the package price (price at the time of downpipe purchase). However, this offer is for original owners only, and is valid through only AWE Tuning directly or through an authorized AWE Tuning dealer (like ModBargains & the ModAuto shop), so long as proof of the original Touring Edition Exhaust purchase can be provided.

And to answer the most commonly asked question: None of the components of our Q5 SUV exhaust system affect or alter any of the emissions devices on the vehicle, and therefore are legal for street use.
