Stock blow-off valves like those that come standard with the Mustang often suffer from a range of problems. They are plastic, and they leak, and if you want to up the power (who doesnt?) they have trouble holding the extra boost.

Developed right here in the USA, The Mustang Shortie is produced with a light-weight, brass/aluminium, two-piece piston, which is then perfectly matched with precision engineered springs, giving razor sharp valve response, and a serious increase in performance over stock valves. The Shortie's dual port design provides one one plumb back port to keep the car's computer happy, and a second vent to atmosphere port for that trademark Turbosmart BOV sound we all know and love.
Fully Recirculation vs. Atmospheric Vent
The Turbosmart offers BOV upgrades that are fully recirculated BOV system or 100% vent to atmosphere. Your EcoBoost 2.3's stock system is a full recirculation design that ""recycles"" the blown off air back into the turbo. The recirculation design does not provide that ""woosh"" BOV sound, but replacing the OEM valve with a Turbosmart Recirculated BOV system still will provide you with all the other benefits of upgrading your BOV - and it's much more subtle, especially if you have a significant other that dislikes noise, or if you want to avoid, shall we say, ""unwanted attention"" from the local authorities. The Turbosmart Dual Port system includes a special blanking plug allowing you to set it as a 100% atmospheric vent, where the blown off air will vent to the atmosphere and will produce that ""woosh"" sound.
